A member of the Facebook group ‘Sharing the Kindness’ got in touch to let us know about an initiative they are currently running to help get unwanted items to those in need
Not your ordinary ‘Buy and Sell’ or ‘Freecycle’ group, but a group that specifically targets items for people that are genuinely in need
One of the groups admins, Liam Ferguson told us:
“Sharing The Kindness aims to help those within the community that are in need or who struggle, this can include people and families in need or struggling to make ends meet that could benefit from the group or any small or big act of kindness.
What the group does is people can post items within the group that they would be willing to donate that they no longer use and the item could be donated to anyone who would benefit from the item, this could be anything from food, toiletries wheelchairs or anything that could benefit someone.
We also like to help people as best we can with financial donations or fundraising pages to raise money for different organisations.
We also like to help many organisations, in the past we have made donations to such as Johnny’s Happy Place, Help The Homeless, Safe Until Daylight and Corby Nightlight to name a few.
The point is to show people they are not on their own”
What do you think of the idea behind the group? – let us know in the comments below and why not check out the group for yourself
