Fire and rescue services were called to reports of a fire at the Sywell Aerodrome hotel on Thursday evening. Six appliances from The Mounts, Moulton, Earls Barton, Wellingborough and Corby including the aerial rescue pump attended the incident at The Aviator Hotel.
The fire occurred in the rear section of the top floor of the hotel block with damage limited to a small area of the building on the top floor.
Firefighters were successful in containing the fire to the hotel, which was evacuated. Roads were closed during the night and into the early hours of this morning. The fire was fully extinguished by 7.40am on Friday 4th March, but one crew remained at the scene monitoring for hotspots.
Hotel management says that they hope to have all bedrooms online as soon as possible and that the bar and restaurant were unaffected and will continue to operate as normal. No one was injured in the fire.
